Valerio Di Marco graduated in Chemistry in Padua in March 1993 (110/110 cum laude). In May 1998 he obtained his doctorate in Chemical Sciences. Between 1998 and 1999 he worked at the laboratory of the National Interuniversity Consortium "Chemistry and the environment" (INCA) in Marghera (Ve), performing analyzes of chlorinated organic micropollutants. In May 2000 he won the comparative evaluation for a position as university researcher of Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padua. From 2003 to 2015 he was a researcher, and since 2015 he is an associate professor of Analytical Chemistry.
He participated in numerous national and international congresses, where he presented oral and poster communications. He is coauthor of 86 papers in international refereed journals. He spent for many years periods (one month or one week) at the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry of the University of Szeged (Hungary), where he worked on common research projects with the hungarian collegues.

Research Area

The research projects followed by Valerio Di Marco mainly concern the study of metal-ligand complexes in aqueous solution through a multi-methodological approach. The most studied metals are alluminum(III), iron(III), vanadium(IV), vanadium(V), zinc(II), cadmium(II), copper(II), copper(I), strontium(II), silver(I), lead(II) and mercury(II), while ligands include hydroxypyridinecarboxylic acids, carboxylic/hydroxyl acids, saccharides, phosphonic compounds, macrocycles, and peptides. Currently the main research field concerns the development of new "metal-based" radiopharmaceuticals with particular reference to the chelating part of these molecules.
